How To Prevent Burnout
Most people now-a-days are always on the go to get things done.
Sometimes we work so hard to please others, we forget to take time for ourselves. Poor work-life balance affects your mental, social and physical well-being.
When you overwork yourself, you will feel unhappy which later will have a negative affect on your personal development and overall work productivity level.
Here are fours ways to prevent burnout.
1. Shut off all work communication.
2. Reward yourself.
3. Rest, Relax, rejuvenate
4. Eat healthy and exercise
Learn to shut off all work communication – This may be difficult to do, especially when your job allows you to work on your off hours,. Try taking 30 minutes to put aside any work related items. Take a break. Turn off your phone. Stop checking your emails. Spend time with your loved ones. Become mindful of your surroundings. It’s unfair to neglect the people around you for work. Work will always be there- the ones you love may not.
Reward yourself – When you work so hard, you should be rewarded! Do something for yourself. Buy something for you. Treat yourself to go eat. Set an appointment to do your nails or maybe a new haircut. Maybe buy a new game, or taking a trip somewhere. Regardless, you should be doing something to reward yourself for your hard work. This will allow you to know that you are working for something!
Rest, relax, rejuvenate – The three R’s. This is something I do quite often! Research shows that when you take time off to rest, your work productivity goes up. If you have PTO hours saved up, take a day or two and rest, relax and rejuvenate. Or perhaps ask someone to watch your children so you can have a day to yourself. Following the three R’s wll make a big difference on your work performance. Try it!
Eat healthy and exercise – Eating healthy and exercising is one of the key items to prevent being burned out! Both affects your mood and energy. These can also boost your memory and build better social relationships with others. When you eat healthy and exercise, you will feel happier and awake. Try going out for a walk or swim each day. If you are on a busy schedule, taking even 5 minutes out of your day will make a difference!
